How To Clean Your Fridge: The refrigerator is the favorite in the kitchen. We securely store our perishable food here until it’s ready to eat. Unfortunately, we don’t make the best use of refrigerators. We can fill more than necessary, we can throw away what needs to be thrown away, we know to clean until the crumbs crystallize. Despite all this, even when there is a slight odor, we start to complain instantly. Here are the steps to tell you how to clean your fridge:
How to Clean the Refrigerator:
1-Take Out Food
Throw away any food that has expired. Empty your fridge by taking your edible food into ice for a while and prepare it for cleaning.
2-Take out the shelves and drawers
Take out all the pieces in the refrigerator that can be removed and set them aside. You can also wash the shelves or drawers made of plastic or metal under hot water with the help of dishwashing liquid. However, you will need to wait until the ceramic or glass parts reach room temperature to wash them to prevent them from breaking or cracking.
3-Wipe the interior of the refrigerator
Mix some dish soap and hot water and wipe the interior of the refrigerator with a cloth. You can start the wiping process from the upper parts to prevent dirty water from dripping onto the parts you wipe. You can use a plastic sponge or cleanser for stubborn stains. Another option would be to leave a heated cloth in this area and let it dissolve for a few minutes. After this process, the stain will soften and be easy to remove. After that, wipe and rinse several times with clean and damp cloths to make sure it is clean. Pay attention to indentations and protrusions, as well as areas where stains can collect. Finally, you can wipe the inside of the cover.
4-Clean the shelves and drawers
Now, once your shelves and drawers have warmed up a bit, you can wash them with dish soap and hot water and then let them dry. You have to be careful, especially when handling glassware. You can use dishwashing gloves to prevent breakage and injury.
5-Dry the interior
Use a clean and dry cloth or towel. To make sure the interior of the refrigerator is completely dry, wipe it well. Do not forget to also wipe and dry the inside of the cover.
6-Put the food back
Place the food ingredients in the fridge. In this step, you can also clean your jars or pots that are dirty on the outside. In this case, you should be sure to use clean and dry cloths while cleaning.
7-Clean the Freezer
Repeat the steps outlined above for your freezer as well. The most beautiful of freezers is that the spills that require a long scrubbing usually do not occur here. That’s why cleaning out of date products is the most important part. If your freezer requires a deeper cleaning, you can repeat the above process again.
8-Clean the outside
You should wipe the outside of your refrigerator thoroughly, starting from the top, with the help of hot water and a washing-up liquid. If you have a stainless steel refrigerator, you should use a scratch-free sponge or cloth, and you can use vinegar or glass cleaner to polish the exterior. You should remember to wipe the sealed plastic in the corners of the cover with warm water and washing up liquid. The dirt accumulated here may cause the seal to break.
9-Seasonal: Dropper cleaning
Some refrigerators have a drip tip that collects condensed air and can be removed. In this case, you should find the dropper part and remove it. It is usually placed at the top. You should clean the dropper you removed with the help of warm water and dish soap before putting it back on. If necessary, you can also use bleach. If you are not sure, check the refrigerator’s instructions for use. Then dry the dropper and put it back on.
10-Seasonal: Clean Refrigerator Coils.
Unplug the refrigerator and move the refrigerator forward carefully and slowly. If the refrigerator coils are at the back, you can clean this part using your vacuum cleaner’s brush head. On some side models, the coils may be recessed in the rear top, bottom or back of the refrigerator. Some may even have ventilators screwed onto the coils. In these models, it will be much better to follow the instructions for use to clean. After the process is finished, put the refrigerator back in its place and plug it in.
